I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, EMDR Accredited, a clinical member and accredited supervisor of the Australian Association of Family Therapy (AAFT) and an editorial board member of the Australian & New Zealand Journal of Family Therapy.

I also provide professional supervision and training to other health professionals.

In addition to my clinical training and experience, there are many other qualities I bring to my work and how I live my life.

I spent most of my twenties abroad, travelling the world and exploring cultures vastly different to the Northern Beaches of Sydney, where I grew up. I was drawn to countries that challenged my resilience and broadened my self and world view, such as India, Pakistan, China, Indonesia, South Africa, Mozambique, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua etc. I believe these experiences were my right of passage into adulthood and were significant in finding my life’s purpose and vocation.

During this time of ‘soul searching’, stretching out of my comfort zone and studying different philosophies and spiritual traditions, I came across Buddhism which really helped me understand my mind and heart, and offered me an alternative to self defeating thoughts, emotions and behaviours. I have deep gratitude for the many teachers, mentors and therapists that have guided me and helped me grow and heal along the way.

I began Dharma, meditation and mindfulness practice in 1996 and have continued ever since. Over this period I have practiced in the Insight/ Vipassana and Zen traditions. For over 10 years my interest in expanding self awareness and consciousness has included deep ecology, shamanic and tantric practices.

I have been surfing for over 35 years which connects me to the natural rhythms of nature and teaches me valuable lessons about patience, timing, persistence, letting go and how to work with emotions like fear. These qualities also come in handy as a father of teenagers and a partner!
